January Update on Melana

Hope you all had a very Merry Christmas and a blessed New Year! I wanted to send out an update before too much time passes and fill you on yet another miracle that we experienced on New Years Eve. Melana went in on December 31st to get her scan and her biopsy and the radiologist proceeded to tell Melana that there is a 10% chance that her lungs could collapse when they do the biopsy because of the location of the tumor. The radiologist proceeded to tell Melana that if her lungs did collapse, she would have to spend the night in the hospital so they could observe and monitor her closely. As you can imagine Melana started to get upset and cry...then Melana felt God by her side and remembered that He is in control. During that time the radiologist left the room to look at the scan of Melana's mass and her nurse gave her some sedatives to relax her. Then a few minutes later the radiologist came back into her room and told Melana that they are NOT going to proceed with the surgery because it appears that the tumor has shrunk from 1 inch to .5 inches, and he felt that the risks didn't outweigh the benefits of completing the biopsy. The radiologist stated Melana is still not in the clear, the size of the mass could have shrunk due to the scan being taken from a different angle, but he seems pretty confident that her mass is not cancerous because cancer doesn't ever shrink. We know that our God is sooooo very amazing and He can and will totally and completely heal Melana from cancer, so we are praying and relying on God to do the healing. We are going to schedule another scan in three months to make sure that the mass is still shrinking, but we praise God for showing us how amazing He is on our last day in 2008. As we look forward to 2009 we are excited to see God continue to work in our lives and use us to bring Him glory.

Thank you all sooooo much for your prayers, love, thoughts, support, e-mails, and phone calls. We will make sure we keep you updated as to Nick (There is no new news about Nick right now. Please just continue to pray that God gives him strength and energy to work during the week, so he can keep his job & insurance) and Melana's progress as we hear more!

Living by God's Grace,
